Laser treatment for snoring
Snoring is the vibration of respiratory structures and the resulting sound due to obstructed air movement during breathing while sleeping. In some cases, the sound may be soft, but in most cases, it can be loud and unpleasant. Snoring during sleep may be a sign, or first alarm, of obstructive sleep apnea.
About 54% of Canadians deal with a snoring partner and an estimated 5.4 million Canadian adults have been diagnosed with sleep apnea or are at high risk of experiencing obstructive sleep apnea.
At Skintology Health and Wellness Centre we offer a laser treatment to decrease the amplitude of snoring. The treatment involves a gentle, laser-induced tightening effect caused by the contraction of collagen in the oral mucosa tissue.
A full course of treatment consists of three separate treatment sessions over a six-week period. The final results of the treatment have been shown to last up to a year, and the therapy can be repeated.
Each Treatment takes about 15 minutes and requires no downtime after. The treatment is painless and has no side effects
